The Designer

I, LaTonia Monday, am a double cosmetology graduate (Pennsylvania & Texas) and Certified MAC Cosmetics Make-up Artist. Every aspect of my life’s work revolves around beauty and having a tremendous fashion sense. My experience consists of five consistent years in the beauty industry.

In 2003, I attended Empire Beauty School in Pennsylvania and gained much of my experience in a salon environment there. People always asked, “Why did you go all the way to Pennsylvania for cosmetology school?” I always explained that I wanted to go for the best! By attending cosmetology school in Pennsylvania and working in the salons located there, it was easier to experience all the brand new trends of the industry. I’m convinced that the ability to travel to Baltimore, New York and Cleveland to see trends as they were set in motion and attend countless hair shows contributed to my developing style, a style that has been inspired by my travels. Empire Beauty School (Harrisburg, PA), which is a highly recognized cosmetology school in the northern region, had really set the foundation for where my life was headed. It was definitely the true start to my career.

After completing school and working in a salon for a year, I began to bring clients to my Studio for sessions. I was followed by 90% of my clientele from school. At that point, I was ready to begin working for myself. When I left Pennsylvania in 2005, I had my Cosmetology Certification, salon experience, some wedding experience for both hair and make-up, and the mindset to be my own boss.

Although my main focus at school at the time was hair, the curriculum also covered points in the other aspects of Cosmetology, such as skin, nails and make-up. Since make-up was my second love and I did not feel as though I had fully conquered the art, I decided to add perfecting my make-up artistry as one of my goals moving back to Dallas/Ft. Worth. I chose Make-up Art Cosmetics, or MAC. I was always attracted to the highest standards and creativity of their artistry. They have always had the reputation of having the best, highly skilled make-up artists in the industry, in addition to, having the most absolutely beautiful selection of colors for your eyes and lips known to man! Although MAC began mostly backstage, behind fashion shows and media, it has become a huge attraction to those who love to wear high quality make-up and be 100% flawless. This type of reputation that MAC possesses was one that I was definitely willing to stand behind and wanted to be a part of.

Being welcomed to the MAC family was definately a major addition to my life of style and trend. The training that MAC offered and the various skills that I developed with the company, I feel, served as a huge basis to my success with make-up. I worked directly for MAC Cosmetics from 2007 - 2009.  Currently, I am freelancing full-time in  Dallas, Texas and loving it!

Throughout my years of traveling and learning, my goal has always been to please women, whether it be; giving the cuts and colors they love for trend setting hair or creating a flawless look with a make-up application. Basically, helping them achieve 100% beauty when they look in the mirror. After discussing beauty, with these women, I realized the only thing I had left to conquer was a trendy clothing line that looked great and felt great on. I recall many stories about clothing not fitting right for well proportioned women from countless clients, friends and family.  I then thought, “Hey, I can do it. I’ll be the one to get the ball rolling!” I believe all women are beautiful and should feel that way all the time in all aspects of their lives. I am so proud of Treasured Chest and all the support it has received. The full line of fashion will be launching on May 24, 2009. Be sure and check back with us regularly for updates on new designs!

Thank you all again so much for all your support and encouragement!
